Web Content Display   Safer Internet Centre – Russia (formerly National Internet-Safety Node in Russia) is a combined Safer Internet Centre which includes awareness-raising and research centre, hotline and helpline, as well as several special thematic projects. The Centre was founded in 2008 by ROCIT (Internet-society NGO) and Soprotivlenie (victim support NGO) and works under patronage of Public Chamber of Russian Federation. Safer Internet Centre – Russia performs different types of awareness-raising and educating activities online and offline, research work, operates a hotline and a helpline, runs Safer Internet Day activities in Russia. Also the Centre is a bridge for cooperation and partnership by government, industry and civil society for making the Internet a safer and more comfortable place for children and families. Safer Internet Day – 2010 activities in Russia Safer Internet Centre – Russia and ROCIT since 2008 traditionally run Safe Runet Week (rus. Nedelya Bezopasnogo Runeta) – a group of public awareness-raising events devoted to Safer Internet Day. This year the Week will start on February 2 and end on February 9. The events of Safe Runet Week will be held this year in Moscow and 12 regions of Russia. They include conferences, roundtables, exhibitions, promotions of safer internet services and awareness-raising programmes. Main events of the Week will be held in Moscow and are the following: February 2. High Level Roundtable and Seminar “Child Safety on the Internet: Modern Approach in Russia and Europe". The event will gather specialists and experts in the field of ensuring child safety online. Also the roundtable will be well covered by press and will include press briefing. The event will be held at Russian Information Agency Novosti (one of two official Russian information agencies), Moscow, Russia. February 3 – Video conference between Moscow and regions of Russia: “The Role of educational and cultural organizations in promoting and ensuring child online safety” Participants – educational experts from schools, libraries, museums, local official bodies. February 4 – Public Summit “Threats for Child, User and Society from the internet: Situation in Russia” (i-SAFETY 2010 conference) Public Summit is a form of open hearings of matters dealing with user and child safety online in Russia, where high state officials, NGO representatives, industry representatives and child sphere experts will meet in the discussions and commonly work out recommendations and solutions which will be promoted to practice. Public Summit is held on the base of traditional i-SAFETY conference – the main event of Safe Runet Week and the main Russian conference on the matters of online safety. The Summit will be held in Public Chamber of Russia. More information and the program of the event are available on the Safe Runet Week website www.i-safety.ru Also Youth Panel Roundtable is planned during Public Summit where youth activists will share their views and ideas on safer Internet with experts. Participants: youth activists from different organizations and regions of Russia (ITL, Youth Leader Club, etc.) who are interested in the issues of safe, ethical and responsible use of the Internet; leading adult experts in Inrternet-security and safety. Time on air – about 1 hour February 9, Tuesday – Forum of Safe Internet Forum of Safe Internet will be held by Ministry of Mass communications in Ostankino TV Center. It will include awarding ceremonies for Family Web Safety Contest “My Safe Web” (rus. “Moya Bezopasnaya set”), Positive Content Website competition and social awareness contest “Safe Internet to the Masses”. Also the official ceremony of launching Public Web Safety Declaration will be held.
